NGO: Public organizationAsol” (Общественная организация «Асоль»)

Location: Dushanbe (Varzob district) 

Income generation area: sewing, gold-embroidering and cooking

Goals:  

Engage rural girls in the age of 15-23 years in entrepreneurial activities by giving them the skills and means to successfully run their small businesses, and enhance employment opportunities for them.

Objectives:

  • Conducting seminars on human rights;
  • Conducting seminars on leadership;
  • Conducting vocational training courses on sewing, gold-embroidering and cooking;
  • Creating new jobplaces in the centre of the Public Organization Asol on sewing, gold-embroidering and cooking

 

Proposed Activity:

  • Providing seminars on human rights and leadership;
  • Conducting series of training sessions on creation of small business;
  • Conducting vocational training courses in sewing, gold-embroidering, and cooking;
  • Establishing a small library with no less than 100 materials and textbooks in Tajik and Russian languages on the national and international laws, policies and programs relating to business, especially women's participation in economic processes;
  • Creating 30 new job places with the establishment of workshops on sewing, gold-embroidering and cooking products;
  • Publishing booklet about the project activity with pictures of products produced by the project beneficiaries for

 
Output/Outcomes

  • Enhanced knowledge and skills of 60 young women on the organization and development of small business;
  • at least 40 high quality business plans are prepared;
  • Girls are ready to realize their business ideas;
  • 90 girls have obtained new skills;
  •  Girls used regularly the knowledge and skills obtained by them during the project in order to develop their businesses and access to micro-credit;
  •  Improved girls’ knowledge on financial issues;
  •  Raised awareness of relevant organizations and individuals on the Center's activities and products of the girls;
  •  Increased sales of products for girls and their level of income;
  •  Raised awareness of important individuals and organizations about the problems of vulnerable young girls and the level of participation in their decision;
  •  Brought additional resources to address the economic problems of girls.

 

Beneficiaries:

 120 rural girls from vulnerable groups in Varzob district, which is near Dushanbe

 Average income per month: $ 100.

NGO: Public Organization «Center of UCA Alumni” (Общественная Организация «Центра Выпускников Университета Центральной Азии»

 
Location: Sokhcharv jamoat (village), Shugnan Disrict, Gorno-Badakhshan (Eastern Part of Tajikistan)

 Income generation area: Bee-farming

 Goals:

 Reduce poverty in jamoat Sokhcharv of Shugnan district in Gornno-Badakhshan (Pamir)

 Objectives:

  • Establish a bee farm (consisting of 25 bee families);
  • Train five representatives of poor families to keep a bee farm and run small business;
  • Arrange marketing of product (honey) in jamoat Sokhcharv and outside it.

 Proposed activities

  • Establishing the bee-farm
  • 3 trainings on bee-keeping
  • Ongoing consultations during the project
  • 5 day seminar on doing business

 Output/Outcomes

  • Farm of 25 bee-families established
  • 5 people from 5 poor families acquire knowledge on bee-farming
  • Marketing of the product arranged
  • 5 poor families have increased their income for 70%

 Average income

 $150 US per month for each family. In total there will be five families. This project will bring about 750 USD for all direct beneficiaries each month.
